Dr. Deborah Thompson
Dr. Deborah K. Thompson has worked as a nurse since 1979. Dr. Thompson started her career as a licensed practice nurse and has been a lifetime college student since that time. Achievements include earning an Associate Applied Science in Business, Associate of Arts in Nursing, Bachelor of Professional Studies in Healthcare Administration, Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing with concentration to complete and become a board-certified family nurse practitioner in 2002, Post Masters as a Psychiatric Family Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2009, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2012. At this time, Dr. Thompson is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Thompson has enjoyed the opportunity of working in positions at VA Memphis, State of TN, Baptist and Methodist Hospital in the Memphis, TN area.
Dr. Thompson has been a volunteer adjunct associate faculty member with University of TN Health Science College of Nursing and worked as the interim program director for the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Residency Program to initiate the program in 2019-2020. Specialty areas of service has included alcohol and drug intensive inpatient services, Post Traumatic Syndrome Disorder program and the homeless program at Veteran Administration Memphis location. It is a pleasure to be able to continue to work, provide, and promote mental health-care services for all patients seeking psychiatric care at Strong Foundation Behavioral Health Clinic.
